Social Enterpreneur and Its Value

I study International Relations as my major in university. International Relations is a multi-discipline field that is influenced by some disciplines, such as sociology, politics, history, economics and law. Traditionally, International Relations scholars’ professional practice is going to be as an ambassador or formal representatives for the states. But, nowadays that doesn’t have to be so. There are other professional practices, such as analyst, representative for a Non Governmental Organization, etc, that related to International Relations.

I actually still question myself what I am going to be. But being a social entrepreneur has caught my interest since a few years ago. I want to work in a Non Governmental Organization, especially in children education or intercultural learning organization. Some values in my future career are open-minded, having social sensitivity, be responsible and give quick responses, and dare to take some risks and unpopular decisions.

Working as a social entrepreneur required a person to be open-minded to new cultures and circumstances around them. Being an Non Governmental Organization (NGO) worker means that the person should be ready to be placed in a whole new region, which usually will be a developing place that need more improvement. Living in those kinds of situation needs an ability to adapt, adjust with a new culture and absorbing the positive sides as well.

Social entrepreneur is one of occupation that needs more social sensitivity to face the problems related to the field they’re working in. The workers need to be sensitive of the problems that are occurred and know what will be the best solution for them. Facing the challenges, a social entrepreneur is required to act and decide quickly yet be responsible of what they have improved for somebody’s or many people life.

Sometimes the decisions they make will not be a popular decision. The challenges make the workers are used to risky decisions, whether it would bring a significance improvement for the community or maybe the opposite side. But, most of all, being a social entrepreneur gave a person a large fulfillment of helping and changing somebody’s or some people life.
